Our Local Partner Rutter’s Story
The cycle of creating and spending wealth locally helps strengthen the economy and broaden the community. With this concept in mind we’ve chosen to partner with local businesses like Rutter’s Dairy to bring you local quality products.
The roots of Rutter’s Dairy are planted deeply in the soil of Central Pennsylvania, in farmland deeded to the Rutter family in 1747 by descendants of Pennsylvania’s founder; William Penn. Rutter’s family farm has been in operation for 266 years, making it one of the oldest continually-operated family farms in America. The story of Rutter’s Dairy begins in 1921, when George and Bud Rutter milked 20 cows to produce the first 15 quarts of Rutter’s milk, which they sold door-to-door from their horse-drawn wagon for 8 cents per quart. Today we have relied on Rutter’s for over a decade, to deliver farm fresh milk that our customers grown to love!
Rutter’s dairy products come from over 50 local area dairy farmers. All Rutter’s milk comes from cows that are not treated with artificial growth hormones (rBST). On-site bottling in York, Pa assures maximum quality and freshness – AND all of the bottles they make (over a million!) are recyclable.
Beyond the dairy products in our store, we also offer a delicious assortment of Rutter’s juices, spring water and a distinctive line of Rutter’s thirst quenching original and flavored iced teas.
Where can you find Rutter’s products? In the dairy aisle and by the registers you can find drinks in our convenient refrigerators. We now offer Rutter’s Chocolate Milk!
